From The Manager’s Desk – Another (Nonsense) Doomsday Prophecy

Yesterday I went to a local chain bookstore in a mall. Accidentally my eyes caught a small blue book with the title “Hercolubus, the Red Planet” by V.M. Rabolu. The book was placed on the encyclopedia shelves.
Before I picked the book to read it, I assume that the book is only one of many books that tells about how a gigantic planet will crush earth, just as Nibiru, Planet X, etc. And I was right.
After scanning through the book (it was a hard-cover book, but the pages are not too many) I found out that book is actually inappropriate to read because:

It’s just another book that tells about how the earth will be doomed by a gigantic planet.
Many nonsense and ridiculous things are told there, for example: the author claimed to have visited the people of Venus and Mars with astral projection (completely nonsense…Venus is even hotter than Mercury!! Those planets are unsuitable for any life-form).
This is the dangerous part: the author is telling you to follow his religion (to avoid the doomsday)…by saying and practicing some kinds of mantra. It even teaches you how to do the astral projection!

I really wonder how this book could end up to that shelf.

The only thing that I could learn from the book was: humans love to make predictions and prophecies. As you can see, for many ages many people have claimed that they could foresee the future.
But I think no one could. No. We are created without the ability to foresee the future unless God grants it to us.
I can’t wait to laugh after the year 2012 (another doomsday or global changing is hoped to be in that year), unless some people gets embarassed by their unproven prophecies and starting to cause catastrophe to make them fulfilled.

The Blues Chelsea

With great forms the Blues did recently, many people wouldn’t doubt their chances of having a treble this season. Every appreciation and gratitude must go to the players and especially to the ‘Midas’ manager Guus Hiddink. He really has a golden touch to every team he manages. You see, the difference is very contrast when Chelsea was under Scolari. Another team from the Big Four could beat Chelsea easily, but now it’s different. Chelsea has just beaten Liverpool and Arsenal in two different competitions, the Champions League and the FA Cup respectively. They will face Barcelona at the semifinal of the CL and they will also face Everton at the FA Cup final. They currently sits at the third position of the Premier League, and they are still catching up with Man Utd and Liverpool. Such great achievement comes from the hands of Hiddink, and the fans begin to hope that he will not leave Chelsea at the end of the season.

It might be true that Chelsea has just found out their true special manager after Mourinho. Well, let’s just see the Blues in action for the remainder of the season.

The 30th gameweek’s results was very surprising, especially for Everton, Man Utd, and Chelsea. They were beaten as a guest at Portsmouth, Fulham, and Tottenham, respectively.
It was a very bad day for Man Utd because Scholes and Rooney were sent off. They didn’t score any goals but Fulham scored twice, the first one came from Zamora’s successful penalty.
Tottenham made Chelsea felt their first defeat since managed by Guus Hiddink. Modric’s goal came a few minutes after the break and made Chelsea missed their chance to reduce the gap between them and Man Utd.
Liverpool came into second after slaughtering Aston Villa five-nil. Gerrard scored a hat-trick.
Aston Villa stays in the 5th position while Arsenal got the 4th after the match against Newcastle which they won 3-1.
It was indeed a surprising gameweek.

Yesterday I managed to reach the final round but I was beaten…it became my fifth or sixth failed competition.
I’m making people upset, that’s all. I don’t know why I always fail when the victory is just in sight. I know God preserved me in the previous rounds…but in the final?
I’m very upset right now and I doubt that I can win any competition anymore…I’m wasting my time, my school lessons, money, and people’s hope.
Am I really that useless?

From The Manager’s Desk – After Nearly Two Months Without Post

It’s nearly two months since I posted something in this blog. For some reason I forgot to write in this blog, and I missed all the thing that has happened: Chelsea’s new brilliant manager, Guus Hiddink, the Champions League, Liverpool’s great victory against Real Madrid and Man Utd, and many more. Well, more good things will come tomorrow. There’s no need to regret things that has happened in the past.

As for myself…at Friday, 20th of March, I’m going to the city of Surabaya to follow a national chemistry competition. I have failed 5 different competitions so far and I have made so many people became disappointed. I wonder whether this one will be successful or not.

I don’t want to make my friends and teachers’ feelings down.

I hope The Almighty God preserves me. No more failure.

Congratulations for the new president of the United States, Barack Obama, who was inaugurated yesterday. We will see his actions and decisions in the next few years, and many people hope that he can relieve the world from the financial crisis.
Well, while he’s focusing on the economy, let’s pray that he doesn’t lessen the security level in US when he decided to reduce the number of soldiers in Iraq. He also wants to demolish the special prison for terrorists in Guantanamo. Now, the thing that I want to point here is about the security of the people. It seems that his two decisions above might give more advantage for the Middle-East terrorists to threaten the people.
Obama, please don’t let your guard down.

That’s it. Manchester United 3, Chelsea nil.
Following the big defeat of Chelsea in Manchester United’s hands, I predict it’s either Liverpool or Manchester United that will win this Premier League season. Yes, it’s too early to say this when there are still 17 gameweeks ahead, but I thought that the match yesterday was the turning point – I have said in the previous post about Chelsea that they must made no more defeats – Chelsea will miss this season’s cup.
And one more thing: I’d like to see Aston Villa gets a place in the next Champions’ League because they are worthy of it.

We will face another new year tomorrow. May God fulfill all of your good wishes for the next days ahead. As for myself, I must try to sleep early and avoid sleepiness in the class. I hope the financial crisis will gone. I’d like to see how the new America president is going to work his way out of the world’s problems. And finally, the last but not least, I hope that the English clubs are going to meet again in the Champions League final. If not, perhaps Liverpool will meet Barcelona in the final…it’s my best prediction.

The Boxing Day matches yesterday marks the half of the season. 19 gameweeks have been played and I can made a rough conclusion about the winner of the Premier League this season.

My main nominates are Liverpool and Chelsea, but likely Manchester United may also win. What about Aston Villa? It is surprising to see their breakthrough among the Big Four, and I’d say they have a fair chance to get the cup for the first time in the Premier League.

Yesterday’s matches are fantastic. Chelsea had regained their 1st place for at least one hour with 2-0 victory over West Brom before Liverpool made a 3-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers. Tevez made a single winner goal for Manchester United when they visit Stoke. Newly appointed Blackburn’s manager Sam Allardyce made a goalless match with Sunderland, who made eight goals in their previous two matches. Another goalless match was made in the match between Tottenham Hotspurs and Fulham. Everton climbs to the 6th position thanks to Tim Cahill’s single winner goal against Middlesborough. Wigan won 2-1 over Newcastle, while Portsmouth was beaten badly 4-1 by West Ham. Arsenal’s victory was grasped when Knight scored the equaliser goal in the injury time in the clash between Aston Villa and Arsenal that ended in 2-2 draw.

But to me, the greatest match in that evening was happened in the City of Manchester stadium. The Citizens managed to have a superb victory over Hull City by beating them 5-1. Robinho once again proved his skill as the most expensive player in England by securing two goals and an assist.

That’s all for now…the 20th gameweek will be held tomorrow and the people will be delighted by another row of great matches.
